Bing Maps Tile 3D Terrain

"Cool I would really like to to get into 3D Terrain Mapping.  The problem is that, unlike the US, getting detailed and robust 3D DEM  Terrain data (e.g. realiable SRTM) US is the 'Land of the Free' especially with data, but…"

My Rough Silverlight Maps Demo

My rough Silverlight Maps Technology Demo

http://silvermoon.stonerocket.co.uk/AirOps/AirOpsTestPage.html

Been working on it for a few months. Expecting the Land Target routing services to give up on 31st Dec, when the general web services lisences runs out :(

Bascially in (Military) Air Mission Planning, need to create routes, to strike at, or recce, particular targets. Other drawn items are general Air constructs (e.g. Civilian Airlanes, and low flying Areas, Threat items, such as SAM sites. These are done, by drawing routes and constructs onto maps. This demo, simply illustrates user created map objects. Other features are a rough fly through of a Route, and Land Targets, moving through Roads.

Bascially it was just a play with Silverlight Maps, and VE Web servicies. - I attached it to a MySQL back end via web servcies so as to persist all the data.

For more descriptions, and videos, see under the Help Menu, within the Apps itelf. And leave comments/problems on the discussion page.

Note Guests can add/edit/delete their own map objects. But a simple (password only)registration, protects your own data.

Cheers

Julian

But anyone is free to dive in and play with it. (See Help within the App)

Hi Julian,

Thanks for signing up to the Bing Maps UK Usergroup - we're certainly hoping to record / webcast all the meetings because we appreciate that it's hard for some people to get to London (I'm based in Norwich myself) - the first event probably won't be broadcast live, but I'll let you know if recordings of the sessions go online afterwards.

regards,

a.
